What ever happened to the original remix?

What ever happened to the original remix? Remixes used to be you remixing your own song with brand new verses. Now a days its somebody else doing a verse to you beat or somebody uploading there own remix that is one person's beat with another person's verse to a completely different song. Don't get me wrong. I like a lot of the new remixes that people come out with but what ever happened to people remixing there own songs and coming up with a whole new one?
